Photo of the Day: FLIGHT

Sunday, 31 January 2010 @ 22:52 by corinn

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I have been recruited to run wardrobe for much of the run of Souvenir.  After finishing up said duties at the matinee performance today I stuck around the theatre for the evening.  Vermont Stage is trying to do a bit of a "dark night" showing, and tonight we were doing a staged reading of Kathy Blume's new one woman show called Flight.  Kathy had been commissed to write for a performance at the airport a few weeks ago, and it since it sold out, and we had a theatre space with no show tonight, Vermont Stage decided to see if we couldn't get an audience!

This is Kathy, rehearsing her reading in the middle of the Souvenir set.  Well, the stool and the music stand are all for her!  Kathy attended the big climate conference in Copenhagen in December and the show was about her experience - both thoughtful and very funny!

Photo of the Day: Cake in a Basket

Saturday, 30 January 2010 @ 10:24 by corinn

For my awesome surprise birthday party on Monday, my parents had a special movie-theatre themed cake made, which they brought with them all the way from New York!  As part of the story of the cake, the woman who made the cake put it on a wooden lazy-susan and then set the entire (2 layer, plus popcorn bucket) cake into a very large laundry basket (and gave my parents the receipt, so they could potentially return it to the store after use).  The cake safely made the 3 hour drive up to the Palace 9 in the laundry basket, compeletly unharmed.  As the party finished up, the cake was then put back into the laundry basket for transport home.  Actually, the original idea was to take it to the EMC, so Ray and I would not eat the rest of the cake.

As you might have noticed, that isn't how it worked out.  Our efforts with the cake in the laundry basket were far less successful than my parents', and we did end up with a tiny bit of frosting in our back seat.  So, since the cake was slightly "damanged" we decided to keep it at home... and have now finished it.  As you can see, we didn't consume every morsel, and mostly that's my fault since I took to just eating the frosting off the cake.

So here are photos of the remnants.... Laughing

Photo of the Day: Quick Change Artist

Friday, 29 January 2010 @ 22:45 by corinn

Photo of the Day today is a "prom" shot of the entire cast of VSC's current production, Souvenir.  Early this afternoon I received an unexpected phone call from Jen, our stage manager, with news that our ASM has injured her back and couldn't run costume quick changes for tonight's show.  After an exhaustive search, Mark and Jen could come up with no replacement, so I volunteered my services.  Nancy was great, she came in early to rehearse the changes with me and Kathy (who as been working with our ASM all along).  And in less than an hour we had a good handle on them.

Mark has found someone to run the shows on Saturday, but I am "on call" for Sunday.  I have big plans tomorrow to begin the rough draft of my MBA Capstone Project paper.  Wish me luck!

Photo of the Day: Ice

Thursday, 28 January 2010 @ 19:31 by corinn

I met Ray (and Sarah and Jay) for lunch today around noon, and it was sunny, windy and not too freezing.  Shock of shocks, around 2:00 I received and email from Ray encouraging me to look outside.  So I left my office and went to the front door of the building.  Whiteout!   It only lasted about an hour, but it left some rather interesting ice patterns in our courtyard.  This is the only photo that came out - the wind was so strong I couldn't keep the camera still!

Photo of the Day: Opening Night

Wednesday, 27 January 2010 @ 23:13 by corinn

So this is my very bad photo from the opening night celebration of Souvenir.  Ray thinks it looks like a KISS album cover.  I had left my camera at my office, and therefore was forced to resort to the use of Ray's cell phone camera; between the excellent lighting in the bar area of FlynnSpace and the high quality of cell phone cameras, this is what I ended up with.  You can mostly see Nancy and Carl, the cast members, and Kathy, Jen and sort of Mark and Ray.

Also, you can see the vegan pie Carl brought to share with everyone.  In two weeks I have now eaten more vegan food that in the entire rest of my life - Nancy's birthday was last week, so we purchased a vegan birthday cake so Carl could join the celebration.  :o)
