Andrew and Erin get hitched!

Corinn and I had the honor of getting to attend my good friend from grade school's wedding yesterday!  The wedding ceremony took place in a church in Pittsfield, MA and it took about 4 hours for us to drive!  Andrew looked pretty sharp and maybe a little stressed, but didn't let it show too much; it looked like he had everything under control.  Erin was very beautiful and was walked down the isle by one of her brothers (her father was in an accident and recovering, but was able to attend the wedding).  I chose not to take pictures during the wedding as I felt it might be a little rude, but I definitely took pictures during the reception... And boy was it fun!

And by fun, I mean a little geeky fun, as in Star Wars theme fun!!!  What was totally friggin’ cool was when they walked into the reception with the Star Wars Episode IV end music playing (where Han and Luke get their medals after blowing up the Death Star)!  And it did not end there, they had a superimposed print of their faces on Han and Leia’s bodies within a frame where people could sign their names or words of wisdom!

("I will travel with you to the ends of the universe, baby!")

To “top it off”, not only did their cake look great, but if you noticed the figures at the summit, you’d notice they best resembled Han and Leia too!

(Great presentation of the cake...)

("I bet the cake will taste as good as we look in that photo back there!")

It was friggin’ awesome that they had a R2-D2 figurine with a top hat… A TOP HAT!  How awesome!

("I am R2-D2 and I will be officiating the marraige today...")

Did I not mention how jealous I was about this?  I told Corinn that if this was an option for our wedding, I would have pushed for it… Of course, she rolled her eyes and smiled for the camera anyway.

(Doesn't she look great?!)
(Smile!)

I did try to take a lot of photos with Corinn’s camera, but I think we got lost in a lot of dancing and other wedding festivities around us.
Thanks Andrew and Erin for a great time and we’re happy to see you both start your lives together!

(Congrats to both of you; you fine couple you!)

Happy Solstice!

And Happy 30th Birthday Andrew Wargo!

Our plan for today was to head down to Waitsfield for a wee birthday get together for our friend Andrew's big 3-0!  Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a different plan in mind!  On Friday we had been pummeled with snow, but yesterday was quiet.  We awoke this morning to an almost white out!  We debated back and forth about whether we should try to the roads or not.  After a few phone calls we decided to try our luck.  Our friend, James, was home for the holiday from LA, and he had called for a lift.  We figured a good test would be to see if we could pick up James, so we packed our sledding clothes, flashlights and kitty litter.

Here's a shot of Ray driving us through the snow, and a few views of the roads!

This first shot is the highway, and the second one is a fairly main street in Williston.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.  We had quite a bit of trouble getting to James's and we realized that the Waitsfield roads would be worse.  We called Kat and Andrew and made our apologies and sent our Birthday wishes!  Turns out that no one else but Danielle (who had left much earlier in the day) had managed to make it down.  We have follow up plans to see the Birthday Boy on Tuesday.  Since we rarely get to see James, and we had made it that far, we spent a bit of time with James.

Since we were out and about, and Essex is closer than South Burlington, we decided to head to Jami and Tonya's.  We watched the end of a Seahawks' victory and then walked to The Lincoln Inn for some burgers.

Can you believe how super big those flakes are?  I can't even guess how much snow we've had this week.  James made it up to Burlington on Friday, and he said (at 2:00 pm) that we had received 17" since his arrival!  The roads were only slightly better on the way home, but waiting had helped our cause; there were still almost no cars on the road, but the snow had slowed up a bit and the roads had seen a few more passes with the plow!  So winter has arrived in full force!  We are now as far away from summer as we will ever be, so it gets closer each and every day!  Yippie!
