So Sunday is laundry day.  I have discovered, in the 3.5 years that I have owned my own washer and dryer, that it is easiest to do the laundry once a week.  That way it doesn't back up on you, and you don't end up in an emergency on a work day morning without any socks, or something like that.  I have designated Sunday to be the day of laundry.  This works particularly well during football season, so that I can watch the game, yell at the TV and fold the laundry all at the same time.

Today, for reasons that are still unclear, Sam decided that he wanted to be as involved with the laundry as was feline-possible.  He helped me sort it, put it in the washer, change over to the dryer, fold it and, as it appears in this photo, is prepared to help me put it away.  While the company is wonderful... the kitty fuzz on the other hand... well, I sort of try to keep clean laundry and kitty fuzz as separated as possible.  But Sam was determined to help today, and so he did!  Thank goodness for lint rollers!

This is not a terribly uncommon site in our house.  In the evenings, after dinner, Ray and I will either watch a bit of TV, or more frequently Ray will play a PS3 game and I will sit on the sofa with him and read.  Just a little something to do to unwind before going to bed.  All of this is dependent on Ray not having to work all night, what time we got home to make dinner and if we do or do not have something that makes us head back out for the evening.

But tonight was a low key evening.  Which led Sam to lurking around the living room.  While he wants to be with us it almost seems he really just wants to be around us - not necessarily within cuddling or petting distance, just enough to feel a part of the action.  So tonight he spent most of the evening lurking around the dining room table: under it, next to it, near it.  So I snapped his photo in our "evening light" so everyone can enjoy his funny antics.

This is another not uncommon site in our house.  I'm not sure if Sam likes to be the "tallest" one in the house, if he feels that he is looking out and protecting us or if he just likes the smell of Ray's hair, but he loves to perch up at the top of the sofa, and sometimes on the top of Ray's head.  My guess is that sam loves the smell of Ray's hair product, and wants to show his appreciation by pawing and settling on Ray's head. 

Ray isn't feeling too swell today, but it's his birthday - Happy Birthday, babe!

One thing I am learning is that I not as steady holding the camera as I would like to be.  Also, the flash is (usually) my friend.  Sorry for the blurry photo!

I spent the majority of my day freaking out about and working on my final, final project for my MBA.  My rough draft is due tomorrow and with all the stuff going on at work (such as my having to run wardrobe for much of the last show) I haven't been as focused as I would like to be.  This has me only slightly worried, but today is all about getting the rough draft done!

Ray and I were home all day, as I worked on homework, Ray spent his time on various projects requiring the use of one or more of many of his computers.  Sam always has a way to find the warmest place in the house.  He has spent much of the day with me in the office, perched on top of Ray's warm, humming computer.  I don't think he gets any happier than this.  Can't you see his smile?

Tonight was a very late night - both Ray and I stayed at work rather late (we didn't get home until 9:30pm).  The best surprise of the evening, after deciding to pick up sandwiches for dinner instead of attempting to make something, was that there was a package waiting for me at the door!  Once we got inside, unloaded ourselves, and pet the cat, I got to work on opening my envelope.

Sam might have been more excited by it than I was - but what he really wanted to do was eat it - I wanted to open it!

Inside were two adorable outfits from my mom: a floral sundress and sandals and a "Little Miss" t-shirt and skirt!  She figured that they would both be perfect whenever Ray and I finally decide where we want to take our next trip to!
