As part of our stay-cation this week Ray and I went out to the Essex Driving Range to hit some balls. This was my first driving range trip, and Ray was very patient explaining the form and technique to me. For the most part I was completely pathetic, but I did manager to actually hit the ball a few times (we won't mention how many times I missed the ball entirely). It was a gorgeous day, and once the eight-year-olds finished up at the other end of the range we had a (quiet and) fun time.
Ray's longest drive was out by the 250 yard marker. Most of the balls that I actually managed to hit landed near that red flag (on the right, maybe 50 yards away). I did have one amazing swing, the last ball in my bucket, and it went all the way out to about 125 yards away! I was thrilled, and it was certainly the best way to end the experience!
Here is Ray "callling the shots" - as his cell phone started to dial in his pocket again!
There was also a batting cage at the driving range. Ray risked a big $1.00 to hit 12 pitches on "baseball - medium".
