This'll be a short blog. I'm still working, but no longer at work. I decided to at least finish what I need to do before my vacation day tomorrow from... bed. I doubt tomorrow will be a vacation day for me since I'll probably/most likely go back in, but who knows. Maybe I can finish a bunch of stuff tonight.
It's slightly frustrating though. I was supposed to be off today and tomorrow, but work stuff came up and I needed to shift my time again. I guess it really doesn't matter...? I'm just hoping that the time I'm putting in is worth my efforts and that it'll get things rolling for the center's new space and projects in August.
Did I mention craziness?
It stems from the fact that the center's expanded its student work force about 10+ students, totaling about 50 working just this summer! Some positions are being overlapped by workers on different projects. Two new projects that came in, they totaled about 23 new positions. We have 5 projects going right now and another waiting for the funding before we can start. We already hired the teams, just need to make sure we can pay them.
It really is incredible that these students are really interested in the serious game field, especially the center! I think it's a great opportunity to really make a difference and they're having fun while doing it. Sometimes I wonder if they really understand the amount of time invested in giving them this opportunity. Last year there were only 2 students, now 50! Maybe 60+ in the fall... I guess we're just too cool for school... Or college, um... or something like that... yeah.
Changing subjects...
So Corinn's been pretty crazy with classes. She just barely turned in another final paper and needs to ONLY complete her final exam. This class has kick her hiney. I'm just hoping she'll be rewarded in more ways than one once the class finishes. The amount of dedication and time alone has been tremendous! Heck, that's why I finally found the time to get this site up; she was totally occupied! All I can do right now is wish her the best and keep her spirits up, and I'm not talking about drinking... Unless there's that one hour where she needs to loosen up a bit before she turns into a giant puddle.
OH, by the way, it's my sister's 25th b-day tomorrow! Wow. That's weird to type. She's getting old... And so am I. It's hard to believe still that she's married and has responsibilities. I'm proud of her. She's been doing cool things at her job and at home. I guess I'll give her a call or something tomorrow. Maybe I'll sing the "traditional" McCarthy b-day song... (it's depressing) Maybe I should take the time some day, record it and post it on this site... Hmmm. Don't worry; it won't violate any sort of copyright by FAR! I'm sure some of you heard me sing it before.
Well, enough goofing off, back to work!
