So today I thought I'd show you a little bit of one of my typical jobs. MAILINGS!
Today I actually had two mailings to do. The first was the single ticket buyers who came to the final week of Shipwrecked!. They received a letter reminding them of how much they loved the show and asking them wouldn't they love to help support professional theatre in an intimate setting by making a donation? The other mailing went out to all those donors who made a donation in April and May of last year who have not yet made a donation this year. Their letter reminds them of their past donation, why they love VSC so much and suggests that they make a new donation this year... and maybe even increase if a little bit if they are feeling generous!
So my job is to create the mailing lists, mail merge and print the letters, stuff the envelopes (letter and donation envelope - marked to indicate which mailing they are responding to), lick them and put postage on them. Today I had 394 letters. It took the better part of my day. It's not the most thrilling job.... but 5.5 years into this job I have gotten pretty efficient at getting the mailings done in a timely manner. Hopefully many donations will come in from all my labors!
